Metal nanocrystals exhibit unique properties based on their size, shape, composition, and structure. Copper nanowires and nanoplates in particular possess conductive and catalytic properties, making them promising materials for printed devices, wearable electronics, and electrocatalytic processes. This work discusses how the development of copper nanowire-based innovations was facilitated by increasing throughput in a multigram-scale synthesis of silver-coated copper nanowires. Simplification of reaction procedures and size control were also achieved in a self-heating synthesis. Furthermore, the role of halides on the growth mechanism of copper nanoplates was elucidated through single-crystal electrochemistry.
